Monel 400 Fasteners are corrosion-resistant to various substances but are not resistant to nitrous acid, nitric oxide, Sulphur dioxide, or hypochlorite. Monel 400 should not be used to avoid exposure to certain chemicals. The additional problem is that Monel 400 has a propensity for galvanic corrosion, which means that iron, zinc, or aluminium fasteners used with Monel 400 can corrode instantly.
